First of All..... Introduction

Hi there,

Before I begin to Bombard you with all the Awesomeness I have planned, I thought It'd be a good idea to introduce myself. My name is Bukky, short for Omobunkola, pronounced Bookie ( Cookie with a B), Nigerian born and bred with a slight dash of je ne sais quoi. A while back, I moved to France. Apart from the sadness, I felt from leaving my friends behind, It saddened me even more that I was never going to eat authentic Nigerian food for a while. So what did I do about it? I decided that I could either enjoy all the delicacies that the French culture had to offer, find the maximum amount of Ingredients to make whatever meal I desired or to live off of the delicious Jollof rice my mother made every Saturday; I decided on all three. Even though I never forgot my roots as a Yoruba girl ( Putting pepper in almost everything), I slowly began replacing Eba with Pizza, eating a lot of cheese, drinking a very respectable amount of wine. Little by little, the French culture began to consume me. When in France, mange le croissant. I learnt french but couldn't speak Yoruba. It no longer bothered me when people mispronounced my name. I lived like this tiI met Jacquelyn in the most unlikely of places; The Nigerian Embassy! Imagine being stuck there all day, no one to talk to, feeling tired and a tall human walks up to you and asks if you know any shop where she can buy wool for her hair. I was that human ( don't judge me). We hit it off. As I began to know her, she opened my eyes to the world of Nigerian excellence. Even she was and is the epitome of that excellence. That truly inspired me, inspired me to wave my Nigerian flag loudly and boldly. That's only one person, in the following months to come I plan on presenting these beautiful, inspiring, unproblematic and courageous Nigerians. People who have thrived in a Francophonie culture that is almost opposed to theirs. I hope they inspire you as much as they have me.
